Song of the Week

This weekend I had a little family outing. It was just me and my dad along with my neighbors and some other people. We went around the countryside in Cundinamarca, which is about the greenest thing I have ever seen in my life. If you drive your car around these areas you are so surrounded by green that you feel that there is nothing like global warming in the world. So the car ride was accompanied by a great green view and music that the driver put on and my friend showed me.

The driver is my friends father and he has more than 6,000 songs in his Ipod. Sure he is a 50 year old man but he actually has a pretty good taste in music hence this weeks song. He is into alot of varied music. His daughter is my friend and she is just 11 years old, but has a very set mind on what kind of music she likes. She is really into Blink 182 and well, doesn't speak very much English. There are some Blink 182 songs that aren't part of the reportua I would want an 11 year old listening to, but who can stop her. I had to explain a very disturbing song title that the band had that my friend had no idea of the meaning of. So yeah I corrupted a little 11 year old girl on Sunday.

We might have been listening to Blink 182' s hard rock, but in the background this beautiful song started playing. I couldn't take it and pulled off the little white earphone. That's when I was introduced to "Sing" by Travis. I listened as my friend stared at me with a face that was mixed with disgust and wonder. Cant blame her, as I said she is not very open to new music. In the end her father told me the name to the song and now it is my song of the week.

Its a very calm song that has catchy lyrics. What most attracted me to paying attention to this song was the rhythm of the song because I like to think its perfect. There are just some songs in which the vocals and the instruments are completely in tune and you just cant help yourself feeling drowned by the perfect melody they create.

In one car ride I went from listening to an 11 year old's hard core playlist to a 50 year old man's calm one. And no I am not ashamed of it; I'm actually proud of my ability to expand my music horizons. So enjoy!

The Video

Here is the video for the single Miley released. In it we see a more mature Miley branching out and showing of her dancing skills. Not only does she dance with men but there are a few scenes where there is some girl on girl action. As I stated on my older post, she is trying to show herself in a new light that proves to all her fans, even the annoying 4 year olds, that she has moved on from being a good girl . and they should do the same.

My personal favorite outfit is the peacock feather one. She also looks super different in that part, maybe its because the makeup enhances something, or the editing of the video did something. If you look at the "birds" that suround her, she is like the only pretty one. Sucks for them I guess.
Emjpy the video!

Apparently Miley Can´t Be Tamed

Miley Cyrus; the eccentric one, the romantic one, the one you love to love and hate. With her short shorts, her bra showing through her shirt, and the nagging paparazzi flashing every step she takes with a blinding light that confuses her from her true path. She is just another teen Disney star heading toward oblivion in a fast changing world.

Once the sweet young girl who would carry a doll of Uncle Willy into talk shows thrilling the audience with just her presence, Miley Cyrus is growing toward womanhood. A journey that fellow stars like Taylor Swift and Vanessa Hudgens went through with grace and poise, Miley begs to differ. Watching Miley going through hard times is a guilty pleasure we give ourselves in the dark. Her pole dancing and romances with men 5 years older than her gives us a topic with which to start conversations. But what is new with this unexpected teenager? What is our new topic of conversation?

Catching up with Miley is her true identity, the one she has been forced to change to become a star. Now, the media is following a girl who is doing what the rest of us do in a daily basis; learn who we are. Hannah Montana and Miley Stewart are fake characters. We have to understand this before we judge Miley Cyrus. Miley isn't the girl who sings songs about "hopping into planes and throwing your hands in the air", she herself has admitted to this, she is the tough chick who sings hardcore pop and prefers black over purple. Proof of this is shown in her new single titled "I Can’t Be Tamed".

"I can't be tamed, I can't be saved

I can't be blamed, I can't, can’t I can't be tamed,

I can't be changed I can't be saved, I can't be (can't be)

I can't be tamed"

These are the inspirational lyrics that make up the chorus of Cyrus’s new song. Seeing a different side to her? Don’t let it come as a shock because this is the future for her, a shallow song exploring only tribal interactions with others(ok maybe not all her songs). The song is unlike anything we have ever heard from Miley. It shows us that the image that Disney had created for her is a bit of a sham and makes us question who else will come out of the closet next.

Miley started at a young age in Disney, 11 to be precise. She got the role as Hannah Montana and Miley Stewart, playing a young pop star who leads a double life. Her career has grown from there and she herself has also grown in the public eye. What separates her from the rest of the celebrities, is the fact that they got their time to grow up and have a normal teenage life. Miley had to grow fast because of her good girl contract with Disney and now, her growing up is under a magnifying lens that the media and the public manipulate constantly.

Hearing the song is like hearing a confession. Miley co-wrote the song and I think used her life as a theme. The song isn't bad, the rhythm is actually really good but its nothing unique along side bands like Cobra Starship. Right now the glamorous life of singers is all about reinvention. If you don't have something new to put on the table, your time in the game is limited to modeling campaigns and music videos, after that you slowly fade from the minds of the public. Take all the other members of Nsync, they left while Justin Timberlake stayed.

Miley was transforming well, taking a role in the movie “The last song" and dating an actor not a model. We saw her in a happy place where she was finally showing us her true colors and being herself. Then this single was released as well as the video. Shocking us all by dancing with both men and women in the video, we see that progress has come to a halt. The streetlight in Miley´s life was yellow but by doing this huge leap into the freeway, it turned bright green. We now only see all our assumptions confirmed as she shows us that she could actually be the next Britney. Why make a huge leap when she was doing fine just taking her time to grow?

"I go through guys like money flyin' out their hands

They try to change me but they realize they can't

And every tomorrow is a day I never planned

If you're gonna be my man, understand"

See what I mean? Here she expresses that she just wants to be herself. Then there’s the whole guy like money part, which confirms her path toward Britneyhood. Like I said the rhythm of the song is great and it creates a fun party mood but its going to take some getting used to. Its just different to what we’ve heard but what she has always wanted to do. We are getting a dose of the true Miley and already there are those who can’t keep it down.

I actually don’t mind Miley but if her younger fans hear this song, she won’t be the only one hard to tame. She is creating a name for herself that isn’t followed by Mickey ears and 4 year olds. She wants to be Taylor Swift without the halo on her head, she wants to be one of the few who make it, but most importantly she wants to be herself..

Torn by Natalie Imbruglia

This weeks song is Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. Its kind of an old song but I just found it this weekend. I had heard the song before but had never been able to know the name, until Saturday. I am reading "Message In A Bottle" by Nicholas Sparks and when I watched the trailer, the song came out. I typed in some of the lyrics into Google and after years of questioning myself about this song, found it.

Natalie Jane Imbruglia was born in Australia and began her career with music at a young age. Before singing her main focus was in dancing until she joined an all girls music group. She only lasted in the group for a while because the managers saw she was better of having a solo career. At age 16 she left high school to pursue an acting career. She was in a popular Australian soap opera called "Neighbors" but left after the second year to London. She became absorbed in the club scene and went bankrupt. The bankruptcy forced her to sing again which she was scared of. The reason for this fear was the fact that people had only seen her in an acting scene not in a musical one. In the end she presented a demo to the song "Torn" and was signed to BMG Publishing and impressed RCA Records. After that, her musical career began.

"So I guess the fortune teller's right
I should have seen just what was there

and not some holy light
but you `crawled beneath my veins

and now I don't care, I have no luck"
This is a fragment of the lyrics in the song, verse 2 to be precise. What I like most about this verse is the fact that she says that she saw what she wanted to see and not the real thing. And even though she saw what she thought was there, she still fell for the person. Who hasn't experienced that? Thinking the person you like is perfect when in reality they aren't. I know I have but this can also happen in a good way though.

What I like most about this song is the fact that when you've heard it once and years pass you by you still remember it somehow. When I checked out YouTube comments on this song, they were all about how they hadn't heard this song in years but it had always been in their heads. Her voice is also amazing and goes great with the song, not anyone can sound this calm while singing about heartbreak.

I hope you like the song and that it gets stuck in your head.

Advertisment

This is our official YouTube Video for feeldatbeat! Enjoy!

Jason DeRulo Video!

You might remember this song from a few weeks back as our song of the week. I mentioned back then how cool Jason DeRulo´s music is but now I get to tell you what a great dancer he is. The video is from the song "Ridin Solo" which is in his self titled album "Jason DeRulo".

I found out about the video recently and was shocked to see what a great dancer he is. Sure in his other video for the song "Watcha Say" you saw some of his dance moves but in this one they are definitely the highlight of the video. I wonder if he did the whole choreography himself?

The clothes he wears are really cool too and the confidence he puts into the lyrics is great. Instead of just acting or whatever, you see he is actually happy to be single in the video.

Well I hop you enjoy this video and check out more about this talented performer.

Videos to Check Out

Here are two videos that I think are pretty cool. I watch a lot of MTV, which sometimes drives my mom crazy, and when I watch MTV I usually remember songs by their videos. So the two videos I show here today are kind of old but they are really good.

Sum 41 is one of my favorite bands ever. I find that their songs are very catchy and after listening to their songs you become obsessed with them. In Too Deep is a fun video and somehow whenever I listen to the song I feel the urge to go swim. The whole idea of the video is humorous and it can brighten someone who is watching it.

Yes for those of you who didn't know, Shakira had black hair. But even though she has black hair in this really old video you see she could rock any look she wanted. This is one of my favorite Shakira songs because its part of her roots. There is no pop sounds in this song its just a personal beautiful song that wasn't touched by other sounds. This is truly Shakira but like any other artist adapting to new things is essential for that stars survival. Even though her old sound was great, her new sound is still hers.

I hope you liked the videos!

10 Songs With the Letter U

I was just resting and relaxing watching some T.V when it hit me: Make a playlist out of a random letter! So for today I chose 10 songs that I like that start with the letter U. I don't know why I chose the letter U. Maybe it was because I was thinking about the word you but then there are lots of songs that start with the word you so I rather do it with the letter for now. So without further ado here are my 10 songs with the letter U.

  1. Utopía by Belinda

  2. Ultraviolet by The Stiff Dylan's

  3. Untouchable by Taylor Swift

  4. Una Obra de Arte by Final y Shako ft Balvin

  5. Una Cancion by Los de Adentro

  6. Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield

  7. U Cant Touch This by MC Hammer

  8. U and Ur Hand by Pink

  9. Una Noche en La Playa by Big Yamo

  10. Unbeautiful by Leslie Roy

These songs are completely random. I literally put U on YouTube and picked some that came out. Others were in my own music and picked them because I like them but its still a crazy remix of songs.

  1. A friend of mine showed me this song a while ago but I never really had time to listen to this song but now that I have I can´t stop. The rhythm of the song is amazing because the chorus is slow but then it speeds up in the verses. The lyrics are also pretty good. My favorite lyric part is the chorus because she talks about how she feels love but her love is about finding herself as she discovers the other person.

  2. I know I have talked about this movie like a million times, I even talked about it in my reading blog but its just so great! This song is really cool and trust me it is really catchy especially the chorus.

  3. I think I had already posted this song in another occasion but if I had to choose my favorite song that starts with the letter u it would definitely be this one. Its just so sweet and deep, very Taylor.

  4. A clean reggaeton song crosses our path again. Instead of being sexual its all about how the girl is beautiful like a painting which is a nice reference. Its all about how the guy likes the girl for different things, even though they mention her body alot.

  5. I hadn't heard this song in years! The great thing about this song is that its the type of song you can stop listening to but then you go back to and captures you completely again. Its just so beautiful and so many artist have covered it but Los de Adentro are definitely the best. The singers voice is just so beautiful and deep.

  6. Do you need a song to get your spirits up? This is definitely it! Its all about being unique and being your own person and finding out who you are. Its all about the journey you take in life and how to enjoy every moment in it. It reminds you that your life is your own and that you make your own destiny.

  7. This is one of the first YouTube video to pop up under the letter U. When I was in middle school, the computer lab teacher would always play this song while we worked. The beat is great to work to and the song is so catchy. Its the type of song that pushes you to get up and dance.

  8. Pink is women power personified. She is so tough and is a great example of being strong and successful. What I like about this song is that its all about how a woman doesn't need a guy to be happy. We can take care of ourselves and aren't here to be treated badly just because we are females.

  9. Such a danceable song. It has this fun drum beat that keeps it upbeat all the time and like the MC Hammer song it pushes you to get up and dance.

  10. I love this girls voice. The song is a bit tragic but it talks about something important. How you are who you are and how break ups are hard. The first one is probably a bit more important than the second one.

Well I hope you enjoyed this playlist and if anyone has any letter request for another playlist like this one, just comment. Enjoy!

Hey Bonita: Song of the Week

Its almost the end of April and to finish up this month I would like to make the song of the week a Latin one. This song is very popular here in Colombia because the group that sings it is from here. Dragon y Caballero are two reggaeton singers that came up with this brilliant song "Hey Bonita" for all of us to enjoy.

Believing they were inspired by their home town, Cartagena, Dragon y Caballero created a brand new, unique sound in reggaeton. Armando Paez and Donny Caballero are the two guys behind Dragon y Caballero, a unique duo that mixes the tropical rhythms with the beat of reggaeton. They try to create a unique sound for every one of their songs and want to cross limits in the music industry. The two young men came from different music projects but decided to come together to create music they were both comfortable with and to create history. They describe their music as small dosis of "sabor" that can later become a total addiction. They moved to Bogotá (my home town) to have a bigger range for their music and right now are preparing to go on tour outside of Colombia. You can only expect new yet consistent music from Dragon y Caballero that connects their audience to them in a deeper level.

What I most enjoy about the music of Dragon y Caballero is the fact that it mixes tropical rhythms with modern ones. The music changes consistently and every time you listen to a new song you find they have somehow reinvented themselves without changing their style. Another thing that is great about this duo is the fact that they don't sing any nasty lyrics even though they sing one of the dirties genres in the world. This song for example is about a girl that a guy wants, but instead of talking about her butt, they mention her beauty in a nice way. Here is an example:
"A mi me encanta tu sonrisa y tu mirada
Tu piel tan blanca y delicada

In this verse they mention how delicate the girl is and how her smile and her eyes are beautiful. See? No reference whatsoever to her butt. My favorite instrument in this song is the guitar because it is always there in the background and what it plays sounds really pretty with the song. It also seems to be the "typical" sound of the song which is surrounded by the modern part of the song.

I encourage everyone to check out this amazing duo and listen to more of their music like "Fruta Prohibida" and "Tengo Prisa". I hope you like them as much as I do.

Soccer and Music

Don't you just love soccer? Don't you just love music? Well I have great news the new World Cup Hymn "Waka Waka:Esto Es Africa" is out. What better way to advertise the world cup than with Shakira and some of the best soccer players out there.

We all remember Shakira did the hit "Hips Don't Lie" for the 2006 World Cup. She is back with this years song. I like that it is Shakira again because besides the fact that she is from my same country, she is an artist that anyone can relate to. She is the type of singer that doesn't have any scandals and can truly be appreciated as an artist.

Shakira wrote and produced the song herself and the FIFA chose it to be the hymn of the World Cup. Shakira is accompanied in the song by a group called Freshlyground and will present the hit on July 11 in the closing ceremony of the tournament. The money made by downloads of the song is destined to go to the FIFAs projects. The song will be included in ‘Listen Up: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album’ and like I said before for downloads.

The song has typical African instruments as well as pop drums in the background. Its a mixture of the old with the new that ads up to be an explosion of rhythms. You feel the essence of Africa as you listen to the song but you also get the traditional rhythms Shakira uses in all her songs. The song is going to be released in both English and in Spanish.

I don't know about you but I am pretty excited about the World Cup. Its not only the soccer but the fact that the whole world unites to watch it and well all the music that comes out is also a plus. So I hope you enjoy!

The Wait Is Over

Playlist Day!! Yes I know I have gotten a bit behind with all the playlist but I have just been reading the Bible a lot ( seriously) and taking care of my academic life. It turns out that after you read the Bible you get this energy that screams “Make a Playlist!” and no I am not making a gospel song playlist, not yet anyway.

1. Break Your Heart by Taio Cruz ft Ludacris
2. Airplanes by B.o.B ft Haley Williams and Eminem
3. Cry For You by September
4. In the Ayer by Flo Rida ft Will. I. Am
5. Prrrum by Cosculluela Ft Wisin & Yandel
6. Desafio by Daddy Yankee ft Don Omar
7. Somebody to Love by Justin Bieber
8. Back Against the Wall by Cage the Elephant
9. Seras Mia by Khriz y Angel
10. Shut Your Eyes by Snow Patrol
11. Party Up by Stubbly
12. Call to Arms by Angel and Airwaves
13. Here We Go Again by Demi Lovato
14. Tied Together With a Smile by Taylor Swift
15. Say What You Need to Say by John Mayer

Yes lots of songs to make it up to you, people who read this blog. So these are all songs that Ive found recently and like 2 that are old.
1. I really enjoy how danceable this song is. The lyrics aren’t very inspiring but at least the guy admits he is a jerk before he leads anyone on. Taio Cruz´s voice is very soft but it gains lots of strength in the chorus which is definitely very catchy. Ludacris as usual is very amusing with his rapping ways.

2. Crazies mix of people ever! But the song is great. It’s the first time Hayley sings outside of her rocky self and Eminem sounds great as usual. I don’t really know who B.o.B is but he has a song in the top 10 of ITunes so I guess he’s gaining lots of popularity. The song is really good and inspiring in a way.

3. I really like September’s voice. I am usually not into electronic music but I guess her music could also be considered pop. I really like the lyrics of this song and how her voice can reach that high note in the chorus that kind of breaks her voice.

4. I am doing a dance to this song with some friends and every time we finish dancing the song is stuck in my head. It’s a fun party song that really gets everyone’s spirits up. Flo Rida´s voice is very capturing when he raps and the fact that the chorus is sung by Will.I.Am definitely lets you know it will be catchy.

5. No I am not perverted but it’s just so catchy. Don’t get any ideas from this song either. I am a female and can tell you for sure we don’t walk around the street and the disco saying prrum like car/cat. The reason I like this song is because it’s catchy. Sure it’s not the cleanest song ever but it’s great for dancing. And Wisin y Yandel are in it which is a major plus.

6. Da-ddy Yan-Kee (he separates his name as an introduction to his songs)! Don Omar and Daddy Yankee in one song is like Superman and Batman working together, you know it will be great. They are two of my favorite reggaeton artist and when they work together it’s like an explosion of creativity has taken over. My favorite part of the song is in 0:31 when he says “se puso a bailar” not exactly because of the lyrics but because of the sound in the background.

7. JB! No one start crying! This is definitely my favorite song by this guy who is older than me (I look older though). Personally I believe it’s hard to take out a song with this title because one of the greatest hits of the world by Queen has the same name. You must have a really good follow up act to be able to name a song after an already existing hit. Sure Queens’s song and this one are very different but now JB brought something new to the table that definitely deserves recognition and not just a comparison to an old hit. This song makes a name for itself.

8. I really like the voice of the singer of this band. It’s one of the songs that you know you will listen to when you are down just to cheer up somehow. I´d describe it as a break out song.

9. I know lots of reggaeton but there are so many cool songs. Khriz y Angel have a gift to create really sweet reggaeton songs or just plain perverted ones. No matter how dirty or clean the song is, it will always be danceable and catchy.

10. This is another band I really have to find more music by. The pace of the song is great to run to in the gym. The lyrics of the song are witty and you have to listen closely to really understand them. It’s all about closing your eyes and escaping for a moment and acknowledging things around you. Sometimes it’s crazy but it’s just plain old fun.

11. I have to admit for being a Disney song this is definitely one of the best rap songs I have heard. The guys got talent and let’s hope he can leave Disney to expand his music carrier. This song is in the soundtrack of the movie “Stars Struck”. No need to judge just because its Disney, trust me it’s a good song just enjoy the music.

12. A close friend of mine showed me this song and I became obsessed over Angels and Airwaves. The singer sounds exactly like the guy from Blink-182. Their music is a bit more relaxed than Blink-182 but maybe that’s just this song.

13. I love Demi Lovato! She is coming to my city for a concert but unfortunately I can’t attend seeing how money doesn’t grow in trees. This song is not her best but I just love how her voice sounds soft in parts but then she takes out her powerful voice and you are stunned. She is definitely one of the most powerful female voices I have ever heard.

14. Not my favorite Swift song but I just love the story behind it. One of Taylor´s friends in high school went through an eating disorder and to give her strength Taylor made her this song. I just love how outer events become songs.

15. This is such a sweet song. I use it to calm down or get pumped inside. I love John´s voice and how soft and gentle it is. He is also has some of the sweetest songs out there. I find it cool that his reputation is based on cute sentimental lyrics and not on nasty ones.

I hope you like this playlist I put together!

Death= Song of the Week

You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? Well in my case right now a song is word a thousand words and emotions. Death has hit my family many times and in all of them I find myself only being able to express some sort of emotion at the worst or last moment. Ive been to more funerals than my friends and possibly more than the average teenager should attend. But it is imminent for death to not strike and I would like to dedicate this post to someone Ive known since I was very young, my dog Milton. I know its like really corny but it is hurtful that a being that was there all your life suddenly vanishes and you feel empty inside. I don't know if anyone out there knows what its like to lose a life time companion that wasn't of your same specie. Anyway I would like to make the song of the week Here Without You by 3 Doors Down in honor of my dog.

I got the news of the death of my dog as I was coming back from school in one of my eternal bus rides home. I wasn't able to cry do to the fact that I was surrounded by the boys volleyball team of my grade and there was a 4 year old staring at me. I was listening to my ipod and in that moment when I thought I was about to lose it, this song came on. Somehow everything that I was feeling was explained through the beating of a drum and the soft manly voice of Brad Arnold. In a way the song was my way of venting my emotions in that moment ( I did cry) and for that I truly want to acknowledge it.

To learn more about 3 Doors Down click here.
I hope you don't think I am depressed or anything. I will be my chirpy musical self soon and please don't judge this blog because of this pretty sad post.

Artist Profile: Mayday Parade

Mayday Parade is a band i recently found that has funky names for their songs like "Id Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About" or "You Be the Anchor that Keeps My Feet on the Ground, Ill Be the Wings That Keep Your Heart In the Clouds". Really long titles but they totally grab your attention.

The band began in Tallahassee, Florida and has been playing for the past 4 years. They have a unique brand of pop-inflected punk rock, that they have been perfecting throughout the years. Their producer, David Bendeth, has worked with bands such as Paramore and Underoath, meshes perfectly with the band members because he understands the type of energy they are looking for and what their goals are. Something else that makes this band unique is that the band as a group works together in the composition of their tracks and chooses which songs go into the record or not. Their most popular albums have been " A Lesson In Romantics" and " Anywhere But Here".

Band Members:
Vocalist/keyboardist: Derek Sanders
Bassist: Jeremy Lezno
Guitarists:Alex Garcia and Brooks Betts
Drummer: Jake Bundrick

I really encourage you to check out this band if you like Paramore, The Maine, or any other punk/pop band. I personally loved them from the moment I first heard "Id Hate to Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About" and since then have been finding most of their songs like my kind of music. Here's a video of another of their songs, I hope you check them out and enjoy!

A Cool Music Show

If you really enjoy reality shows and like music, you should really check out M.T.V´s Taking The Stage. Ive seen the show several times but don't watch it devotedly as some other t.v shows. Its interesting to see the amount of creative people in the world and how music is truly a form of expression.

The cast of the show goes to the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. Each member has their own talents and their own dreams to fulfill. In the second season new faces come into the show along with old ones that return from season one. The show is not only about making your musical dreams come true, it is also about the love lives and relationships among the cast members. Its interesting to see how each character somehow uses music to vent their emotions. A particular example is Emily Sones, the beautiful singer/songwriter, who overcame an eating disorder and uses her compositions to express her feelings. You find dancers, singers, composers, and actors who show you what the fight for your dreams is truly about.

I really recommend this show. It can be truly inspiring for people out there to see others just like them being in an environment where you breath and live music. My personal favorite characters are the singer/songwriters because as the show progresses you see all the things that happen to them and how they turn those moments into notes and melodies.
I hope you check it out! If you click here you can watch the first episode of season 2.

Song of the Week: A Total Dream!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great spring break or how we Latins call it Semana Santa (Holly Week). I haven't written since Wednesday because I was out of town in the warm weather resting. Anyway this weeks song is called "I Must Be Dreaming" by The Maine. Really sweet song and both the acoustic and the studio version are great. I did an artist profile on The Maine a while back but I recently cant stop listening to this song.

The reason I like this song so much is because of the enrapturing lyrics and the guitar in the acoustic version. Another thing that is great is that this is one of those bands that when they sing live they totally rock. John sings great live and the band is completely in tune. The chorus is completely breath taking:
"Tell me that you love me and it'll be alright.
Are you thinking of me?
Just come with me tonight.
You know I need you.
Just like you need me.
Can't stop, won't stop, I must be dreaming.
Can't stop, won't stop, I must be dreaming."
This part is great because you see that the feelings are mutual and its just so romantic. Then the song changes and its as if the girl had said this part to the guy at some point.
My other favorite part of the lyrics is the first verse:
"She thinks I'm crazy.
Judging by the faces that she's making.
And I think she's pretty.
But pretty's just part of the things she does that amaze me.
And she calls me sweetheart.
I love it when she wakes me when it's still dark.
And she watches the sun.
But she's the only one I have my eyes on."
I just find this verse so realistic. Its true that girls do weird faces when a guy they like or draws their attention does something. I also find it really sweet that the looks of the girl aren't what makes her whole to the guy but how she acts and is.

Well I hope you enjoy this song and if you want to learn a bit more about The Maine click here to view the artist profile I put together.

Lady Gaga and Elton John

This performance was in this years Grammys. Its my favorite Gaga performance and just felt like sharing it. I also really like the song Elton John sings which is "Your Song" and I like how they created a medley for the two songs. The performance is weird but what can you expect from Lady Gaga!

Play This List!

Today is an original playlist by me. The last one we had was not made by myself but someone else. I'm sorry I haven't done one, its just school was tough the last week and now I am in spring break relaxing. I cant really think of a topic for this playlist so I guess we can just call it a random playlist.

  1. Take It Off by Kesha
  2. Todo Por Ti by Alana
  3. Erase and Rewind by Ashley Tisdale
  4. Tambourine by Eve
  5. Dream On by Aerosmith
  6. Buscando un Final by Ilona
  7. Colgando en tus manos by Carlos Baute ft Marta Sanchez
  8. Id Hate to Be You When People Find Out What This Song is About by Mayday Parade
  9. So Hard by Rihanna
  10. The Anthem (Calabria Remix) by Pitbull and Lil Jon

There is really no specific topic towards this playlist, just fun songs I chose randomly.

  1. I heard this song for the first time this week. Its really good and cool to dance to. Kesha continues again her deep topics, exploring in this song how we turn into animals when we party and "take it off". Ah so deep!
  2. My favorite part of this song is the piano. I had mentioned this band in a previous post and how the girl in it is so amazing. The lyrics of this song are so sweet but at the same time they sound deep because of the rhythm gives the song, making it sound serious yet loving.
  3. This song makes me think of escaping and leaving everything behind. Its a great pump up song when you need to feel better or you are running in the gym.
  4. This is a very addictive song. Once you here it once you cant stop. It is played in the movie Wild Child when Poppy (Emma Roberts) does a dance in the movie. Some friends of mine at school and myself are planning on doing a dance to it to present. Like anyone cares. Still the song is fun and I encourage everyone to dance to it.
  5. This song is so deep. I like the guitar and the singers voice. Ive become obsessed with aerosmith these days, I have no idea why. I look them up in google and I watch videos on them. Do you notice that Steve Tyler's voice sounds different in this song than in say "Just Feel Better"? Maybe its an old recording I don't know.
  6. This song is all about finding your purpose in life and doing what you want. I like how cheerful it is and optimistic.
  7. So cheesy! Still if anyone was to dedicate this song to me, Id probably love it. Don't get me wrong I like the song. I like how there is a female and male voice because if it had been just one voice singing the whole thing, I don't think I would even have it in my iTunes. I like the sound of the two voices and yes I admit the lyrics are sweet.
  8. I found this song recently. I'm really curious about this band and want to find more songs by them. The title makes the song sound so harsh but actually its a sweet song. Why would anyone not want to be the person this song is written about?
  9. Rhianna has transformed. Remember that song "S.O.S"? This is so different. She has really changed in her song topics, maybe it was that whole Chris Brown incident.
  10. The scary men unite! Lil Jon makes me laugh how he says "Lets go ladies" with that tough guy attitude of his. Anyway, this song is fun to dance to and even though the lyrics aren't very pretty the rhythm is great.

I know its not the longest playlist out there but its still full of fun songs. I hope you like it.

Some Vids to Check Out

I just felt like sharing these two videos. I have no idea why. Well I know that I wanted to show the Justin Bieber one because I havent seen it myself and just felt it would be fun to have it on here. Miley is here maybe because I just remebered her new movie is coming out and I actually like this song. Its deep and her voice sounds pretty when she sings it.
Let me know what you think!!

Newly Discovered Band

I watch M.T.V alot. I enjoy their reality shows and when they play music videos they usually play the ones I am interested in. Anyway for about a month now they keep playing this mysterious video that does not have a description box like the rest. You know, those little signs that tell you what the name of the band is and what the name of the song is, this song never has it. Its kind of frustrating to like the song but have no idea how to look for it. So do to my great mind, this morning right after the reality show I watched I was ready to copy the lyrics of the song that way I could google them and finally see who this group was. The plan worked. I now know not only what the name of the song is but I also know what the name of the group is.
I wont tell you the song right now because I am planing on having it as my song of the week but I sure can tell you the name of the band, Alana.

Alana has five official members called Camila Silberstein, Anthony Albert, Tito Domic, Sckott Rocker, and Esteban Domic. I seriously thought they were form Argentina but they are actually from Chile. What really drew me to this band was that I found out that Camila composes the lyrics, the music, and sings. I really admire artist that have that spark of creativity that makes them the true owner of their songs. If you listen to their songs the lyrics and the music are really really good. In a way I look up to her because I also compose (more like try) my own songs. And trust me when I say it is not easy.

I had never heard of this group before and you can tell they are just beginning to gain popularity and being recognized. I really hope they make it as a really popular band because personally I think they are amazing and all the time I spent looking for that song was worth it. I was going to put one of their song below but I am not in a very good computer but I promise I will add it later or you can got to YouTube and type the bands name in. Either way it will be totally worth it.

Here it is:

Some Songs That Trigger My Imagination

You know how some songs make you happy and some songs make you sad? Some trigger some dark corners in your mind where you were holding back memories of something, others remind you of people or significant moments in your life. I feel deeply connected to music because I can express myself with it in a way that might seem clear but can also have some obscure meaning to it. I know this is a really random post but I just felt like posting something about feeling, seeing how my blog is called feeldatbeat.
When there are those terrible moments in which I feel sad or lonely some songs come to my mind like:
Like a Stone by Audioslave
Swim by Jacks Mannequin
Loser by 3 Doors Down
Its like instinctive I put any of these three songs and am completely in tune with what the lyrics say or what they rhythm makes me feel. They all have that tone that matches the mood somehow in a weird way. Its not that I am a depressed person that sits around just crying her heart out over songs, no I have a life.
Then there are those moments when there is just too much time to be in my own head. I live in Colombia in the capital but I live in the suburbs. Its a small town 45 minutes away from my school so the bus rides can be long. In those 45 minutes of interior searching many thoughts come up in my mind. If its a thought about letting go of an argument and just getting over any kind of problems I had, I tend to lean toward the alternative rock side. Dome songs in my alternative rock side are:
Girls Not Grey by AFI
Let Me Rest In Peace by James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Musical Episode)
Dream On by Aerosmith
Its My Life by Bon Jovi
Painting Flowers by All Time Low
Aren't these total warrior songs or what? Seriously if you are having trouble with something or someone and want to get over it just listen to one of these songs. They truly do help surpass challenges.
In the bus, when I am truly happy, I like to listen to songs that are more upbeat. This part varies alot depending on the newest song I have listened to and caught my attention. Sometimes it could be rap, others reggaeton, and sometimes just normal upbeat songs.
Mi Alma Se Muere (Remix) by Fuego ft Pitbull and Omega
Ridin Solo by Jason Derulo
Press It Up by Sean Paul
Lo Que No Sabes Tu by Chino y Nacho
El Ritmo No Perdona by Daddy Yankee
These are just some of the songs that are like happy pills, they instantly brighten my day somehow.
Its part of human nature to day dream right? Well that's another thing that happens in these annoyingly long bus rides. I day dream about alot of things but well there is certain things that are always on my mind and these songs help enhance the day dream with back round music:
Te Quiero de Verdad by J Balvin
Say When by The Fray
I Must be Dreaming by The Maine
Bodies by Robin Williams
Tear Drops on My Guitar by Taylor Swift
Today Was A Fairytale by Taylor Swift
I know this was a totally random post but oh well. I just felt like highlighting how I truly do believe in the power of music and how it helps us express ourselves somehow. Ill make a playlist of these songs so you get a feel for them. Enjoy!

Just Feel Better by Santana ft Steve Tyler

This song describes exactly what I have been feeling these days. Lets just say I haven't had the greatest of weeks. Tones of homework, projects due, and friend trouble is not what I call a piece of cake. I had heard this song when it came out but I hadn't listened to it since and I forgot how great it is. Hello? Santana, the greatest guitarist of the world, doing his magic and Steve Tyler's voice is pure musical genius. Check out the video:

Sure the video is a bit disturbing with all the teacher harassment and the fact that Steve Tyler is kissing a girl who is REALLY young(0:54) , but look past that and into the meaning of the video and of the song. That's why it is the song of the week. I am sure there are lots of people out there who are feeling that they cant see through the haze around them. I know I am one of them right here right now. The song is all about finding a way to feel better and not focus on the problem at hand. Its all about Carpe Diem(sorry we watched The Dead Poets Society in class today)! Freeing yourself from that that is holding you back.
Lets see what can I say about these two gentlemen. We've got Santana who was born in Jalisco, Mexico in July 20, 1947. He has been playing the guitar since he was 8 and has been in the music business for 40 years. Steve Tyler is not the only other artist he has played with, his list of featured artist like Michelle Branch and Chad Kroeger. Then there is Steve Tyler, father of Liv Tyler. He was born in New York in March 26, 1948. Since 1970 he has been in the recognized band Aerosmith but before he used to be in another band called The Strangers where he played the drums.

Please feel free to comment on this song! I hope you like it!

A Video to Check Out

A friend sent me this video and I liked it alot. Its a mix of many Taylor Swift songs like Lovestory, Teardrops On My Guitar, and more. When I heard it the first time I was not understanding what songs were mixed up in the medley but if you listen closely you can catch the verses of popular Taylor Swift songs in there.
I hope you enjoy!

Perfect Playlist: Part 2

As I promised I am back again to give my response to the songs on the Perfect Chemistry playlist. I heard all of the songs and I am ready to review them, just like any other playlist I have done.

  1. So What is a great power up song if you feel pumped. Its great for running too and getting ready to stand your ground. Its rhythm is perfect as well as the lyrics to make you feel unstoppable and prepared for anything.
  2. A song with not much inner meaning but with a great rhythm. Sure everyone strives for attention but this song makes it sound all playful. Lets just say that from personal experience of someone I know striving for attention can be the worst thing you do.
  3. When I heard this song I completely fell in love with it. Its like when you discover a whole new song and get really excited because you completely related to it. Simon Elkels comment on this song is for a part in the book when the two characters cant stop thinking of each other and now that I have heard it I completely agree
  4. What I liked about "My People" was that the singer showed that he was truly proud of his culture and introduces the song in a positive tune but then explains that even though he loves them, there are troubles. The piano that is played throughout the song is also really pretty.
  5. Ah good old Pitbull and Lil Jon! Don't these two guys freak you out? Sure they are great rappers but oh my god are they frightening. Imagine going into a club somewhere and this bald guy and his henchman with a grill in his mouth, come up to you and tell you to go crazy. Frightening. Still the song is really good, well I am not saying it has much meaning to it but its very danceable.
  6. Do you have any idea how long I have been looking for this song? Years! I never knew who sang it or what it was called but I always had the melody kind of stuck in my head. Now that I get to listen to it closely I realize its actually a really sweet song and the singers voice sounds like the singer from Nickleback. This is another song I completely agree would go great in the movie.
  7. Lets just say this is a sweat song that made me all teary eyed. The Fray is a great band and this is another song in which they prove their talent to everyone.
  8. I loved how this song sounded. It sounded romantic but at the same time like the singer is not believing the girl will come that its up to her. As I read the authors comment on this song its completely the same feelings Alex (the character) was feeling as he waited for the girl to make her decision.
  9. Want to here a story? When I was in K5, I was in ballet. Don't ask me why we were dancing this song that is well not really ballet. Now that I think back the choreography wasn't ballet either. MMM. Still my poor ballet skills don't mean this is a bad song, its actually one of the best Santana songs out there. And hello, Rob Thomase´s voice is like so mysterious and goes great with the Latin/rock rhythm.
  10. Not really my style but I guess it goes with the book.
  11. Demi Lovato! I love her voice and how she is actually really talented. You know how all Disney stars have to have albums out? Hers is actually really good and its not like nay other Disney CD. This isn't my favorite song of hers but she sounds amazing.
  12. Now that's what I am talking about! Daddy Yankee, Zion, and Lennox! If you have a Latino character in a book its a must to have some kind of reggaeton as your inspiration. Wow this song is kind of old. Its great and its actually cute (in opposition to other reggaeton songs).
  13. This is like the sweetest song Katy Perry has ever sung. We´ve all had thought about someone who we know we aren't supposed to be thinking about. This song shows that angst of emotions of someone who you feel connected to but disappears in reality and is only alive in our heads. Goes great with the book and is excellent for the emotions Brittany experiences.
  14. I just discovered a new power up song for exercising. This song is very upbeat and I can definitely see it playing in a fight scene in the book.
  15. Enrique Iglesias, that hearthrob. Now if a guy truly wants to dedicate a song to a girl, sung by a man, and does not have the intention of annoying her, Enrique is always the way to go. I don't know if its just that his songs have enough cheesiness to last you a lifetime or its his soft, sexy, voice.
  16. A great song to apologize to someone and complement them at the same time.

If you think this playlist rules, you should really read this book. Its so romantic and once you read it you see how each of the songs might have helped the author through the process of writing such a great novel. Enjoy!

Perfect Playlist

This weeks playlist is not of my own creation but based on a book. I read this book called Perfect Chemistry by Simon Elkels and I checked out the books wepage and saw that it had its own playlist. The book is a romance between two very diffrent characters. You have the popular rich girl who seems to have it all and then you have the hot latino stud who seems to always get in trouble. When they are united as lab partners and have to deal with eachothers diffrences, something else sparks between them. All this is a mixture of emotions that creates a great playlist. I havent heard many of the songs so I am going to download them tonight and listen to them throughout the day and will report back on that tomorrow.
1. So What, by Pink
2. When I Grow Up, by The Pussycat Dolls
3. Addicted, by Saving Abel
4. My People, by R.P.M.
5. Now and Later, by R.P.M. / Krazy, by Pitbull
.6. Wherever You Will Go, by The Calling.
7. Never Say Never, by The Fray
8. Say When, by The Fray
9. Smooth, by Santana and Rob Thomas
10. Give me Your Love, by Pat McCurdy
11. Don’t Forget, by Demi Lavato

12. Tu Principe, by Daddy Yankee
13. Thinking of You, by Katy Perry
14. Not Listening, by Papa Roach
15. Hero, by Enrique Iglesias
